Eyeliner tattoo is a form of cosmetic tattooing, often referred to as semi-permanent makeup. 

The pigment used is deposited on the first layer of skin. The colour is designed to fade over time, hence the term ‘semi-permanent’. This allows for face changes, ageing and trends.
 
The tattoo is applied to the lash line, and can be applied as a fine, thin, or medium clean line with a subtle wing or no wing at all.

Before Care:

 

• Please don’t wear any makeup (at least around your eye area).   

• Avoid alcohol for 24hrs before your appointment. Alcohol can thin the  blood, which can cause the skin to be hypersensitive, and bleed/ bruise easily.    

• Avoid blood thinning medications for 72hrs before your appointment. This includes ibuprofen, aspirin and fish oil tablets. Please consult your doctor if this is an issue.   

• Eyelash extensions have to be removed at least 3 days before the procedure.

• Eyelash growth serums like Latisse bring extra circulation to the area  which results in more growth of hair/lashes. This can cause the skin in that area to be hypersensitive and bleed easily. It is recommended to discontinue the use of these products at least 2-4 weeks before your treatment.

• You may like to take an antihistamine tablet before your procedure. This can help reduce the swelling and watery eyes during the treatment. Consult with your pharmacist or doctor first.

• Contact lenses need to be removed for this procedure and should not be replaced for a minimum of two hours after. It is advised to bring a pair of glasses for the drive home or arrange transport. 

 

Aftercare:

There may be swelling and bruising after the procedure. This is totally normal. You can apply an icepack to help soothe the area. Do not apply aftercare cream until the following morning, as the wound needs to close naturally first. After that apply a THIN layer of aftercare ointment every morning and evening for a period of 7 days.

 

• Contact lenses should not be worn for a minimum of 2 hours after the treatment

• Keep your tattoo as dry as possible for the first 7 days

• Do not use mascara for the first 7 days. When you resume using mascara, purchase a new one.

• Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for the first 7 days 

• Avoid long, hot showers for the first 7 days

• Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 7 days

• Avoid face-down swimming and hot tubs for the first 14 days

• Wait at least 3 - 4 weeks before applying eyelash extensions

• Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks

• Do not rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin exfoliate away naturally. Picking can cause scarring or loss of colour

• Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face out of the water as best as you can.
